I like these guys so much I had
to write a poem.
A TRIBUTE TO THE BAND I LOVE
I dwell in darkness deep and sad,
Having floated down the churning stream of youth
I get so desperate, feeling lost,
Like a child abandoned or an elder forgotten
The dark and troubled waters which have carried me
Have not drowned me yet
In truth, they bear me up and on,
Though anxiety tortures me and I often lose hope
But having said so much,
Boldly accusing the stream of Life,
I have yet to speak my gratitude
And heartfelt relief
At the consolations cheering me,
The gusts of freedom which blow across my face
Among the small but precious joys of my life
Are three musicians
Whose faces and forms are beautiful,
Reflecting in a lovely way
The cheerful, boundless energy
Which speaks to me in all their songs
Blink-182, your silliness is wisdom,
Your immaturity is life
Drifting in my somber reflections,
You catch me for a while
And release me from my anguished mind
Gazing warmly at a photo
In which each of you hugs each,
I sense no shame in your beaming friendship
And I long for a time when I too will be caught up in embrace,
Cast by the darkened stream into a pool of sweet affection,
Released from the stifling lack of love
Which kills my generation
