Morrissey
I liked the music of the Smiths as soon as I was introduced to them seven years ago. I suppose I recognized in their lead singer and lyricist- Morrissey a kindred spirit, someone whose thoughts and feelings resembled my own. Having great intelligence and charm, he was weighed down, however, by deep depression, and was unable to express himself sexually or have close relationships with others.
Now, it goes with out saying that the world isn't exactly filled with depressive, celibate poets. However, the continuing popularity of Morrissey's music (both solo and his original work with the Smiths) testifies to the fact that there is a sensitive, eccentric spirit deep down in a great many of us. Morrissey is also very, very funny, (or I should sat witty, since he is sophisticated and English). If your misery and loneliness wants company: listen to Morrissey. If your irony and humor
wants company: listen to Morrissey. If you want to hear music that sounds great: listen to Morrissey (especially his work with the Smiths, when he collaborated with Johnny Marr). All in all, his music is truly great art, and almost everyone I've exposed to it has ended up becoming a fan. Some have crossed the line from fanhood to obsession, and we have all enjoyed seeing him perform on his recent comeback tour. VIVA MORRISSEY!
