Orange County Motels

There's something pleasantly mysterious about these old motels. A lot of people feel it.

Tackiness ages well. Novelty eternalized: a nice concept.

Dead fantasies are on display.

Many of the people who stay, and often live in these places, are kind of other-worldly.

Our affluent misery is a dream away from them.

There's plenty of decency at some of these motels...

...but ghostliness too.

It feels alright for me to seek these motels out. I'm a tourist of decay, but also of a strange kind of spirituality.
I'm not ashamed to love these places.
